What if I don’t hold the audiobook rights?

If you do not hold the rights to grant audiobook rights to us (as defined in our Terms and Conditions) you must not upload the Book or work to our platform. You are advised to read any publishing agreements you have, prior to proceeding with the narration of your Work, to ensure you can grant to us all applicable rights.

what if I signed a contract with a publisher who now has the rights to the audio version of my book?

If you signed contract with your publisher or a third party, or have granted audiobook rights in your book to any other person in any part of the world, you are advised to read your agreement with them. This includes any publishing agreements you have, prior to proceeding with the narration of your Work, to ensure you can grant to us all applicable Audiobook Rights (as defined in our Terms and Conditions).

I cant remember if I gave my publisher the rights to my book for audio?

What happens if I use a book whicih I don’t hold the rights to?

If you have used our platform to narrate a book for which you hold no rights, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, you agree to hold us forever harmless against any third party claim or demand, where you have used our Service without having appropriate rights, licences, permissions and/or consents. You may also face criminal or civil charges by the rights holder for a breach by you of their intellectual property rights.

I've used the service but don’t have rights to the book I used.

Can I use the service to create an audiobook from a Public Domain Book or one where the copyright has expired?

In circumstances where you upload a Public Domain Book, we may ask you, and you agree to provide, proof the literary work is in fact in the public domain and the copyright has expired. We reserve the right to refuse any Public Domain Book which has already been made available via our Services, including any Public Domain Book which features on our Book Store and have been narrated using our Services. What is a Public Domain Book?

A Public Domain Book is one in which the copyright has expired. Different time frames for the expiration of copyright apply depending on the jurisdiction. You should check work is infact a public domain book before attempting to use it.

What if I want to use a Public Domain Book which is already on Sounded.com's Book Store?

If a free version of the Public Domain Book is already available on our Book Store, we may agree to publish a version which has been translated into another language and is suitable for our AutoAudio services; or has been narrated by a one of our other Sounded.com AutoAudio narrators; or which has alternative book covers and descriptions; or contains any other feature to make the audiobook unique against existing public domain titles on our Book Store. Any decision regarding a Public Domain Book is at the sole discretion of Sounded
