Absolutely not, no! Contrary to popular belief, we do not believe the AI Revolution is going to put voice actors out of work. We believe our platform works hand in hand with voice actors and gives rise to an all new tier of books being produced at a low cost that will act as a gateway for more and more audiobooks, thus giving them more work in the long run. Our platform and audio production is excellent, as well as being the perfect starting point for unpublished and low-selling authors, but in all honesty it will likely never quite be as good as the very top calibre of voice acting. As an author, you have to decide where that cost-benefit analysis sits for you. A voice actor might cost $10,000 for the average book but it may take you 50 hours to be happy with the output from Sounded.com and still not be quite as good as that chap that read Harry Potter... That said, most books can get 95% of the way there within their first hour which involves setting up your lexicon, vocal timing and a few minor tweaks potentially, and this is where we see ourselves placed and the value we bring to most authors.
